I am back...Not that anyone missed me.....

After a long 2 weeks, Denise convinced me to not give up my quest for another Ironman. Her determination and inspration has refuled my fires and my committment to Triabetes and Ironman quest. Her ability to balance her family and our family's demands are extraordinary.

Steve, I am very glad to hear you are continuing. Doing an Ironman has to be a personal and family decision but I wanted to say that I think your participation is very valuable to the team members and project overall. It was great visiting with you at DTC and I look forward to meeting the rest of your family in Sept.

Whatever you did decide, Steve, that's what makes the story "yours". It just shows the world that while we are focused on diabetes much of our time, life goes on around us.

I am not the world's most spiritual person, I will be the first to admit, but I can tell you this....when I was driving Jesse to the hospital at age 3 I was whispering to myself, "Please don't let it be diabetes...please don't let it be diabetes..." I paused. I thought some pretty horrible thoughts, thoughts of things that could take Jesse away from me. I accepted diabetes as something that would keep him with me.

Perspective handed to me that night as I went to the hospital playroom and saw some families that weren't going to be as lucky.

Thank you for reminding me of that.
